Designer of the month

Table of Contents

In Knit&Note, you can find knitting patterns by many talented designers, and we want you to get to know them even better! Every month, we will interview one of our designers, get to know them a little better, and maybe learn a few things we didn’t already know. The designer of the month in May is Åse, better known as Strikkerlittmye.

Who are you?

My name is Åse, I’m 29 years old and from Oslo. I’ve lived here all my life and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Family, friends, the sea, the forest, city life – in my opinion, it’s a perfect combination

Tell us a bit about your knitting journey

I’ve always been knitting or doing crafts with my grandmother, who’s also named Åse. She taught me everything I love to do. During the pandemic, I got a puppy who took up all my time, but once she settled down after about 10 months, I picked up my knitting again – and haven’t put down the needles since.

What made you start designing?

Designing patterns was never a goal in itself. I simply made the things I wanted – and then the demand for patterns for garments and bags followed naturally.

What inspires your design process?

My biggest source of inspiration is a sudden need for a specific garment or bag. I often don’t know exactly how the finished piece will turn out when I start – it’s my hands that lead the way. A beautiful color, flowers, or a particular yarn quality can also spark a lot of inspiration.

What do you do when you’re not knitting?

If I’m not knitting, I’m crocheting… But right now, we’re renovating an apartment, which is our big project this spring. Otherwise, I spend a lot of time in the forest with my dog, Juno.

What can we look forward to seeing from you in the future?

Going forward, I plan to knit garments in fluffy yarns and colors I find beautiful. There will also be more crocheting, but using different materials than before.
