Designer of the month

Table of Contents

In Knit&Note, you can find knitting patterns by many talented designers, and we want you to get to know them even better! Every month, we will interview one of our designers, get to know them a little better, and maybe learn a few things we didn’t already know. The designer of the month in July is Vorin, better known as StrikkeVorin.

Who are you?

I’m a 30-year-old girl from Re in Vestfold. I was probably born in the wrong county – I dream of mountains and fjords on a daily basis, even though I love life in Kampen, Oslo. I’m completely addicted to having projects, and I always have something creative going on.

Tell us a bit about your knitting journey

Like many others, I started knitting during the pandemic because I was going stir-crazy from boredom. It was the perfect distraction, and I think I ended up knitting over 20 sweaters that year… I’m now in my fifth year of knitting and haven’t really taken any long breaks – even though I sometimes think I’m tired of it (but I’m way too hooked to quit).

What made you start designing?

Designing my own patterns wasn’t something I planned to do, but as soon as I started posting pictures of my knits on Instagram, I got tons of questions about which patterns I used – and often there was no pattern. I love everything that has to do with writing and creating, so once I published my first pattern, I was completely hooked.

What inspires your design process?

I usually start by visualizing an overall scene – an image or a video with a certain mood or setting that fits a cool knitted piece. If that makes sense? I always have a clear vision of the end result, and the design process is about figuring out how to get there. My little sister also has a really cool style, so I often picture what she would wear and use that as inspiration.

What do you do when you’re not knitting?

read crime novels or play Terraforming Mars on my phone.

What can we look forward to seeing from you in the future?

This summer is all about the Mathilda Sweater – my latest (and in my opinion, most fun) design!
