New year, new me

The beginning of a new year is considered a nice time to start something you’ve been thinking about for a while. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a big thing. It could be scrolling social media for inspiration, jotting down knitting goals or organizing your knitting supplies. These are all features that can be found through Knit&Note, allowing for the convenience of organizing directly in the app.

Lacking motivation or struggling to get back into old habits after the winter holiday? Don’t beat yourself up about a slow start. There’s a lot of pressure leading up to and after welcoming a new year. Try to distance yourself from the pressure we may feel in January, and do things at your own pace. Remember, you have a full year ahead of you, with more than enough time.

Getting started

I often find that if I’m stuck in an unmotivated period, chipping away at small things helps me get back on track. This may include getting organized or tidying my workspace – these things help kickstart a good day and in turn helps motivate me. Knit&Note want to help you stay on top of your knitting mess, so you have one less thing to worry about. Keep your eyes peeled for next week, where we’ll post an even more in-depth article on how you can use Knit&Note to kickstart your 2023 organization journey.

Sustainability and slow-fashion

Remember, you’re doing your part for the planet by being a part of the knitting community. Not only is it good for your mental and physical health, as well as giving you a sense of achievement after completing any project –  it is also good for the planet. Sustainability and the importance of slow-fashion is becoming even more of interest in 2023, and knitters are already ahead of their time. It’s so cool to be able to create your own pieces while looking trendy doing so, as well as fighting the negative aspects of the pre-established fashion industry. We thank you for playing your part!

New Year’s resolution - using up leftover yarn

There are many benefits to getting rid of leftover yarn. For example, you can knit so many nice things, it’s cheap, it’s sustainable and very satisfying to see your current yarn stock (which may be slightly messy) decrease. Finding a resolution that you will actually stick to for a year is not an easy task. That’s what’s so handy about this one, you only have to stick to it for a few months. When the yarn is used up, you have completed your goal. Take a look at your yarn stock on the Knit&Note app and join us in reducing the leftovers!

This is much easier said than done. We’re sure that many of you have seen pretty patterns that you’d like to knit in the new year, and that is of course okay, we’re right there with you! It’s challenging to find patterns and figuring out how the leftover yarn works. Buying new yarn and starting new projects is so much fun, and we should never feel in the wrong for doing so. It’s important to find a balance.

Over the next couple of months we’ll be sharing our New Year’s knitting resolutions and goals with you, so if you need some inspiration and don’t know how to get started – read our blog posts and stay up to date on our Instagram this month.
