The tights are knitted in the round, from top to bottom, in stockinette stitch. You begin by knitting a folded edge in rib, then higher at the back and increases for a gusset. You can choose to knit it with or without a foot. If you knit with a foot, the heel is shaped by knitting the back stitches back and forth with short rows before the foot is knitted in the round again. This is a perfect basic garment for babies and toddlers. If you are knitting this for older children, it may be a good idea to use one of the last two yarn options, which are more durable.
