The Mathilda sweater is worked top-down. First, the upper back is worked using short rows. Stitches are picked up along both sides to shape the shoulders, which are then joined to form the front. The body is worked in the round with a pattern on the front and finished with a split hem and a garter stitch edge. Stitches are picked up for the neckband and finally for the sleeves, which are worked with decreases and finished with a garter stitch edge.
