The Phoenix Sweater is worked top-down in stockinette stitch. It begins with the back, which is worked flat with
increases to shape the shoulder slopes, and then continued down to the armholes. Stitches are picked up along the shoulder slopes to work the left and right front flat, with increases to shape the V-neck. The front is then joined and worked as one piece to the armholes. Underarm stitches are cast on, and the body is joined to work in the round to the hem, finished with sewn bind-off. Then, stitches are picked up around the armholes to work the sleeves. The sleeves are shaped with short rows first, then worked in the round with increases and decreases, and ending with sewn bind-off. Finally, the neckline is finished with an I-cord edge.
