The balaclava is knitted in Stockinette Stitch – first back and forth, and then in the rnd with decreases to shape the neck. Next, sts are picked up along the bottom edge of the hood to create the neckline in rib. Finally, a doublelayered rib edge is knitted along the hood opening, with elastic thread inserted to ensure the opening fits snugly around the face when in use.
